Bukingala Primary School
In 2017, Bukingala Primary School in Budwale, was a badly underfunded, under resourced and poorly performing school. The one thousand children attending the school had nowhere else to go but had to endure being taught in slatted wooded constructions that let in both rain and cold air from the mountain. In an attempt to keep out the weather, these constructions were roughly plastered with mud and cow dung. The children had no benches or desks and therefore sat on the cold, wet muddy floor all day.
Helped by educational establishments in the UK, Evergreen raised funds for benches, which were provided throughout 2018 and 2019. The interest being shown in this school has resulted in the local Government also taking an interest and the school now has brick buildings. There is still a great deal of work to be done and Evergreen are actively seeking more educational establishments in the UK are willing to help Bukingala School.
